Free Car Insurance Claim Letter Template
A car insurance claim letter is a formal written notification to your motor insurance provider reporting a road traffic incident and initiating the claims process.
Important Notes
Under section 143 of the Road Traffic Act 1988, it is a criminal offence to use a motor vehicle on a road or public place without at least third-party insurance. Section 152 requires insurers to satisfy judgments against insured persons in respect of third-party risks. Section 170 requires drivers to stop and exchange details after an accident causing damage or injury. Policyholders have a duty of utmost good faith (now modified by the Consumer Insurance (Disclosure and Representations) Act 2012 for consumer insurance) and must notify claims promptly. The Insurance Act 2015 applies to non-consumer insurance contracts. The Motor Insurers' Bureau (MIB) provides compensation for victims of uninsured or untraced drivers under agreements with the Secretary of State for Transport.
